The information on this page covers a few important details to consider when planning for your shoot. To schedule a sitting or get rate information, contact the studio.

Tips for Planning Your Photo Session

The following information will assist you with scheduling and planning for your photo session. Keep in mind, it is important to reserve your date at least 1 to 2 weeks in advance. When you call to schedule your shoot, it is also helpful if you provide some general information to assist in the planning of your session. For example: any ideas and expectations you have, what types of photos you would like and where you would like to have your photos shot. Typically, photo sessions are done at the location of your choosing. Indoor photos are shot with additional lighting if required. A small service charge may be added to the cost your sitting fee to cover equipment rental, travel and transportation expenses.

Scheduling Your Photo Session

Infant, Child and Family photo sessions may be scheduled at your convenience; but usually no less than seven (7) days in advance*. Photo shoots are typically done during the daytime hours or in the early evening. Sessions are available seven days a week, including some holidays. *I give special consideration to new mothers and families with newborns and infants. Newborn photo sessions should ideally take place within the first two weeks after birth. If you need to schedule a photo session sooner than 7 days in advance, I am willing to make exceptions if the desired date and time is available.

The first step in booking your photo session is to contact the studio directly. From there we will go over the available dates and decide on the location and the best time for your photo session. A deposit for your session may be required at that time in order to reserve your chosen date.

The Day of Your Shoot

A typical photo session can last between 1-2 hours (new born, infant and child shoots may take longer). Keep in mind, what you wear can have a dramatic impact on the results of your photo session. You may choose to go formal, casual or coordinate outfits for the entire family; but how you look and what you wear is totally up to you. The important thing is that you feel comfortable. Here are some suggestions:
  • Items with texture are great. (i.e.: sweaters, jeans and layers)
  • Solid colors work best, where as busy patterns can be very distracting.
  • Long sleeve tops and collars are ideal because they keep the focus on your face.
  • Stripes and polka dots are great for kids, but do not work as well on older subjects.
  • Bare feet are fine. If you prefer to wear shoes they should coordinate with your outfit.
  • Stay away from logos, they will date your photos and they draw focus.
  • Accessories are awesome—hats, cute toys, umbrellas, balloons, etc.
  • When planning a group shot, it's best to coordinate outfits and colors.

Choosing Print Sizes & Ordering Photos

Your very own personal online, password protected photo album will be made available within 5-10 business days after your photo shoot—usually less—and will remain online for a predetermined amount of time. You can order prints directly, or I can build a package made to order. You may also choose personalized gift items, such as photo books, cards and custom framed prints.
